Get started
You need:
- iPhone running iOS 26.2 or later, with GasTab from the App Store
- A BLE OBD2 adapter in the vehicle’s OBD2 port — Veepeak OBDCheck BLE (~$32), Vgate iCar Pro BLE (~$32), or OBDLink CX (~$80). The pricier OBDLink CX often does not work reliably with many GM and Ford vehicles — a Veepeak or Vgate is the safer first buy there.
- A gasoline or hybrid vehicle with OBD2 (see Vehicle compatibility below)
Then:
- Record real trips on your iPhone — see Getting started
- Optional: sync to the web dashboard when you’re ready (Step 8)

How it works
Your iPhone pulls data from an OBD2 BLE adapter plugged into your vehicle’s OBD port usually under your steering wheel. After each drive you can see route maps and stats on miles traveled, MPG, gas cost, cost per mile and more.
Optional web dashboard: turn on upload to sync trips to getcarprint.com—see Getting started → Step 8 and the Intake form if you need a login token.
GasTab (formerly CarPrint) relaunched in 2026 as an iPhone-only, privacy-first trip logger built around Bluetooth OBD2 adapters. Trips stay on your device by default. The web dashboard lives at getcarprint.com.
Vehicle compatibility
- GasTab is built for gasoline or hybrid vehicles with an OBD2 port (OBD-II); most U.S. light-duty vehicles from 1996 onward have one.
- So far, GasTab has been tested with 2023 and 2025 Subaru Crosstreks.
- Compatibility can vary by make, model year, and hybrid systems.
- Testing on other makes and models helps improve compatibility.
